Thirty Franklin County residents have achieved the milestone of becoming 10-year 4-H members:
Caleb Barnes
Parents: Martin and Rebecca Barnes
School: 2012 home-schooled graduate
4-H club: Highland Hy-Flyers
Favorite projects: Collections and dog obedience
Achievements: Wildlife and latch hook state fair entries and dog show reserve champion
Activities: Playing almost any sport, listening to music, playing the guitar and ukulele
Future plans: Do whatever God has planned for him
Ryan Bower
Parents: Randy and Nancy Bower
School: 2012 Franklin County High School graduate
4-H club: East Franklin Flyers
Favorite projects: Beef and swine
Achievements: Winning many awards for beef and swine, including grand champion and reserve grand champion starter calf for six years and five years respectively; light weight champion pig; and senior showmanship in beef
Activities: Playing basketball and baseball, fishing, hunting and working on his grandpa’s farm
Future plans: Attending Miami University
Kelly Burger

Favorite projects: Sewing, fashion revue, scrapbooking, corn, hay and soybeans
Achievements: Three grand champions for fashion revue and grand champion for gift wrapping, hay and soybeans
Activities: Reading, sewing, playing softball
Future plans: Attending the College of Mount St. Joseph to major in biology and then attend grad school to obtain a doctorate in physical therapy
Joshua Burton

Achievements: Pets and small engines grand champion, poultry reserve grand champion, many other reserve champions and state fair entries

Future plans: To become ASE certified to become a diesel mechanic
Haylee Cooper

Favorite projects: Beef cattle, photography and arts and crafts
Achievements: Having the champion Angus heifer nine years, showman and arts and crafts champion, most active beef member, Indiana Junior Angus officer three years and winning the Leising Award in beef
Activities: Playing travel softball on the Cincy Star ’94 and showing cattle year round, active FFA member and participating in various school and community activities
Future plans: Attending Wilmington College and majoring in either physical therapy or nursing
Zachary Frank

Future plans: To attend Ivy Tech for general studies and phlebotomy and then attend Ozark Christian College, Joplin, Mo., to study early childhood education

Future plans: To attend Franklin College to major in public relations and play tennis
Amanda Kaiser

Future plans: Attending Indiana University and majoring in health administration
Kaitlyn Kerr

Future plans: To attend Butler University to pursue a career in pharmacy in hopes of becoming a pharmacist and performing research and bringing new drugs to the market

Future plans: To attend Marian University to study nursing while running cross country and track
