Shields and Schils united in marriage

BATESVILLE — Katherine Elizabeth Shields and Paul Andrew Schils were united in marriage Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. at Unity Center, Cincinnati, with the Rev. George Whitten officiating. Music for the ceremony was provided by Patrick Kelley. Readings were performed by Loyd and Martha Morgan, grandparents of the bride. Following the ceremony, there were a formal dinner and reception at The Phoenix.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shields,  Batesville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Morgan, Clarksburg,  and the late Dr. and Mrs. Jack Shields, Brownstown.

The groom is the son of James Schils, Mowrystown, Ohio, and Margaret Trautmann, Cincinnati. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Del Trautmann, Cincinnati, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Schils, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Katherine wore a strapless gown of champagne satin with an ivory beaded lace bodice and peek-a-boo lace hem. The gown also featured a cinched bust, pick-up skirt and chapel train. It was complemented by a two-tiered veil, ivory gloves and pearls. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of calla lilies and roses.

Brooke Baker, Guilford, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Hilary Shelton, Monica Swartz and Stacey Jackson, Cincinnati. The bride's attendants wore wine, floor-length gowns with cascading backs, and carried candlelit lanterns.  

Isabella Shields, Batesville, niece of the bride, and Haidley Schils, Cincinnati, niece of the groom, were flower girls.  They were attired in floor-length gowns of ivory satin with champagne lace. All attendants accessorized with ivory gloves and pearls.

Andrew Schils, Cincinnati, brother of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Jaime Schils, Kevin Owens and Nick Kelley, Cincinnati. The ring bearer was Conner Shields, Batesville,  nephew of the bride.

Katherine graduated from Oldenburg Academy and Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Paul graduated from Milford High School, Milford, Ohio, and the MidWest Culinary Institute. He is a chef at The Pelican’s Reef, Cincinnati.

Following a honeymoon in St. Lucia, Katherine and Paul reside in Cincinnati.
