BATESVILLE — The Lady Bulldogs swim team traveled to New Castle Chrysler High School and suffered a 122-61 loss to the host Lady Trojans.
As a team, Batesville scored the second most team points in 11 years against New Castle, but still came up short.
Andi Cox was the lone event winner for Batesville. She won both the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke.
Elizabeth Weiler was second in the 200 and 100 yard freestyle events.
Also placing second was Nicole Hountz in the 200 yard individual medley.
Gwendolyn Frank (100 breast) and Hountz (500 free) were third place finishers in their respective events.
The junior varsity events proved successful for the Lady Bulldogs.
Sophie Voegele (first) and Lauren Caplinger (third) did well in the 50 yard freestyle, according to BHS head coach TJ Greene.
Maddie Giesting placed first in the 100 yard freestyle, while Lydia Olsen not far behind in third. The junior varsity scoring continued in the backstroke with Lexi Hatcher finishing first and teammate Teresa DeRosa touching in second.
Finally, Voegele was first in the 100 breaststroke and Emily Rose was second.
Seven Lady Bulldogs swam to personal best times in their respective events. They were Cox (100 back), Giesting (100 free), Audrey Hall (50 free), Megan Karbowski (500 free), Voegele (100 breast), Emily Weiler (50 back, 500 free) and Elizabeth Weiler (100 free).
Karbowski dropped 30 seconds in her 500 freestyle event. “That just goes to show what hard work can produce over a period of time,” Greene commented. “Megan’s swim tonight was so much stronger than when she swam the 500 last year.
“When you work hard, good things happen. She was proof of that tonight,” he added.
