Lady Bulldogs fall to No.4 Brownstown Central

-- — The volleyball season came to a close for the Batesville Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled south to Brownstown Central High School and suffered a loss in three sets. The No. 4 ranked Lady Braves did not leave Batesville much room for error and posted the victory by the scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-19.

Statistically, the numbers reflected a short night for the Lady Bulldogs.

Junior Bailey Baumer had 10 kills in 36 hitting opportunities, while Rylee Goldsmith was second with six in 20 attempts.

The team served at a 92-percent pace, but the points did not add up quickly. Katie Thomas led the way with five points followed by Baumer with four. Thomas also led the team in setting with 16 assists, while Morgan Dreyer added eight.

Defensively, Chelsey Paul, Goldsmith and Baumer had handled the bulk of the serve receive opportunities, while Madi Oesterling led the team with four blocks at the net. Baumer had a team-high 15 digs followed by Paul (12) and Dreyer (11).

The Lady Bulldogs end the season with a record of 27-10.

Brownstown Central will travel to Jasper to play No. 3 Chatard on Saturday in the first round of the semistate.
