Batesville High School senior Lawson Sitterding put on an offensive show early against the South Dearborn Lady Knights and guided the Lady Bulldogs to their third win of the basketball season.
Sitterding scored 13 of the team’s 19 first quarter points as the Lady Bulldogs went on to beat South Dearborn 45-27.
The Lady Bulldogs remained focused the entire game, despite a couple lengthy injury delays.
“We finally played for 32 minutes ... it is the first time this season we did not let up,” BHS head coach Jason Slopsema commented. “Lawson’s first quarter performance helped set the tone.
“It was our best overall performance ... we maintained our focus much better,” he added.
Batesville took a 13 point lead after the first eight minutes and led by 11 at the end of the first half.
Just as the Lady Knights tried to mount a comeback, Fawn Ryan converted a pair of conventional three point plays to give the Lady Bulldogs a 33-19 lead at the 4:13 mark in the third quarter.
Sitterding finished with a game-high 15 points followed by Ryan with 12 and Elise Stephens with 11.
The Batesville junior varsity suffered a tough 31-25 loss to the Lady Knights.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed by 10 points at halftime, but battled back to within two by the end of the third.
Taylor Johnson and Holly Keck led Batesville in scoring with six points apiece.

The Lady Bulldogs were 43-41 winners over North Decatur in the varsity contest.
After leading by as many as 11 points in the first half, the Lady Bulldogs saw their lead gradually slip away as the game progressed.
North trimmed the Batesville lead to one point at the 2:38 mark before Sitterding hit a field goal and Carly Paul buried a pair of free throws to make it 42-37 with :24 to play.
Stephens finished with a team-high 15 points followed by Becca Wintz with 12.
The BHS junior varsity posted a 46-7 victory over the Lady Chargers.
Shelby Ronnebaum finished with a game-high 15 points. Alle Salatin was second on the team with six, while Harmony Schiavi added five.
