-- — The Batesville American Legion Post 271 baseball team suffered a 15-5 loss to Madison at Liberty Park on Tuesday.
Batesville got out to an early lead but could not hold on.
One run in the first and three in the second made it a 4-1 game.
After giving up two runs in the top of the third, Post 271 scored for the final time in the third inning.
Madison was not done. They put one up in the fourth and 11 over the final three.
Batesville finished with seven hits compared to 15 by Madison.
Corey Reynolds and Taylor Koplin were each 2 -for-4 with a double and two RBI. Christian McKinney, Will Ollier and Ben Summers each had one hit.
McKinney got the start on the mound and threw four and two-thirds. He gave up nine hits. Ollier and Reynolds each pitched in relief.
Batesville is now 2-5 on the season.
