BATESVILLE — The Batesville American Legion Post 271 baseball team picked up a needed victory.
Post 271 defeated St. Leon by a score of 18-6.
Taylor Kopplin and Will Ollier led Batesville at the plate with three hits apiece. Corey Reynolds, Josh Kinker, Tyler Rosfeld and Christian McKinney each had two hits.
Justin Ahaus got the start on the mound and pitched just over four innings. Ahaus gave up five hits and struck out five. Reynolds got the final out of the fifth inning and was then relieved by Ryan Wilson. Wilson threw the final four innings, giving up four hits and striking out four.
The Batesville squad suffered a 9-4 loss to Lawrenceburg on Tuesday at Liberty Park.
Lawrenceburg scored six of their nine runs over the first three innings to take a five run lead.
Post 271 answered with two runs in the fourth to cut the deficit to 6-3.
Batesville scattered six hits in the game. Kopplin, Reynolds, Ollier, Wyatt Schebler, Dylan Enzinger and Ben Summers each had one hit.
Schebler led the team with two runs scored.
Batesville is now 6-14 on the season.
