Bulldogs score early to set tone against Franklin County

-- — The Batesville High School boys soccer team scored three times in the first half to set the tone against Franklin County.

Four second half goals and an impressive effort in the defensive half led to a 7-0 Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference victory over the host Wildcats.

“It was an excellent overall performance both offensively and defensively,” BHS coach Chris Fox commented. “I was very pleased with the effort and speed of play.

“We are playing a good possession-style of soccer with lots of ball movement and runs off the ball,” he added.

Joey Hutchison got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard early at the 37-minute mark. John Krieger and Luis Davalos added first half goals to put the Bulldogs on top 3-0.

Krieger continued to find success with two more goals to make it 5-0 by the 35-minute mark in the second.

Austin Meyer scored the team’s final two goals – one on an assist by Krieger and the other with the hep of Sean Laker.

Seth Parker was credited with the shutout in goal. He finished the match with two saves.

“This has been one of the best starts to a season in a long time with regards to performance in all phases of the game,” Fox commented. “This team has the talent and depth to have a very successful season.”

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season.
