BATESVILLE — After getting a win over Shawe Memorial to advance in the sectional tournament, the Oldenburg Academy varsity baseball team was defeated 9-1 in the second round by the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles.
A balanced effort by the Eagles led to runs being scored in four innings. Jac-Cen-Del scored three times in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-1 and added four more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Jac-Cen-Del’s Alex Schoettmer threw a no-hitter against the Twisters. Schoettmer went all seven innings, walked only two and struck out 16 batters.
Trent Smith and Dominique Norman each had three hits for the Eagles. Joe Harlemert and Allen Hooton had two hits apiece.
OA advances with win over Shawe
The Twisters opened sectional play with a 9-0 win over Shawe Memorial.
Oldenburg had eight hits in the game.
Josh Kinker led the way with three hits. Five other players – Devon Dudley, Justin Ahaus, Austin Alley, Christopher Kolks and Matty Hurm – each had one.
Ahaus pitched a complete game for the Twisters. The OA senior held the Hilltoppers scoreless, while striking out nine batters.
