Lady Raiders win by 11 over Oldenburg Academy

BATESVILLE — The Oldenburg Academy girls varsity basketball team (7-7) suffered a 39-28 loss to the South Ripley Lady Raiders.

“Our kids played well defensively,” OA head coach Dan Kerker commented. “Give South Ripley a lot of credit. They took advantage of our turnovers and turned them into scores.”

The Lady Twisters gave the ball up a total of 19 times in the game.

Oldenburg kept the game close the entire way, but could not get much going offensively in the fourth quarter. Trailing by the score of 31-26, Oldenburg managed only two points over the final eight minutes.

“I thought were quit attacking the basket in the fourth quarter,” Kerker noted. “We have to get better at playing consistent through four quarters.

“We will continue to work hard going forward each game with lessons learned,” he added.

The Lady Twisters were led in scoring by Sarah Gutman and Rachel Fairfield with six points apiece. Ella Lamping and Cora Weisenbach added five each. Lamping grabbed a team high 11 rebounds, while Weisenbach and Kirsten Ricke had three steals apiece.
