--- — A few new faces and a familiar face returns. After a year off, Jack Froman has returned to coach the Batesville High School boys tennis team. The team also boasts three new players to the varsity line-up, including a pair of freshmen playing at No. 2 and 3 singles. The Bulldogs will improve from last season, but lost their opener 3-2 to the Connersville Spartans. Batesville won matches at No. 1 and 2 singles. Connor Hagan returned at the No. 1 singles position and opened with a 6-2 and 6-2 win over Josh Love. Freshman Kassidy Kase was also a winner in staight sets at No. 2. Freshman Henry Luchow won his first set at No. 3 singles, but came up short in the next two. Jeremy Tyler won the second 7-5 and slipped past Luchow in a third set tie-breaker. Senior Joe Fortkamp and sophomore Mitchell Tayler lost in two sets at No. 1 doubles. The Batesville duo fell to Brian Luke and Zach Smith 6-4 and 6-3. Billy Romweber and Reece Rose suffered a loss at No. 2 doubles. Romweber and Rose lost the first set in a tie-breaker and then fell 6-1 in the second. The junior varsity team suffered a 3-1 loss to the Spartans. Isaac Fullenkamp was the lone winner for the Bulldogs.
