--- — The Milan Indians came up with two big defensive stops and held on to defeat the Batesville Bulldogs 19-14. The first stop came just inside the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs trailed by five points, but had the ball on the 1-yard line with four downs to punch it in the endzone. The first two tries resulted in negative yardage, while the followiung pair were incomplete passes. The next defensive stand was not near the goal line, but it came at a critical time in the game. This time is the clock that was becoming a factor. The Bulldogs took over on their own 31 yard line with 5:37 to play in the game. Seven plays and over three minutes later, coach Eric Heppner's crew was at the Milan 21 yard line. After a loss of yardage on the next carry, a holding penalty pushed the ball back to the 35 with 1:31 to play. The Bulldogs were again forced to go the air and the Indians responded. An incomplete pass from Brady Cavinee to Wes Goldsmith set up a fourth down play. This time, Cavinee looked down the sideline to Jon Lanning. The ball slipped through Lanning's grasp and the Indians had avoided a possible scoring opportunity. Milan took over possession at the 35 yard line with 1:18 to play. All they had to do was run out the clock and they did so successfully.
