Batesville soccer team tops Greensburg

-- — The Batesville Lady Bulldogs Soccer team opened the 2012 campaign with a 3-0 win against Greensburg.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated possession of the ball for most of the game and had a lot of opportunities on goal, according to first-year head coach Kyle Laker.

After the scoreless first half, Batesville came out in the second half and  was able to convert on the some of the chances that eluded them in the first.

Freshman Audrey Hall opened up the scoring with a shot from outside the 18 yard box that managed to bounce over the goalie and into the goal.

Next, Kelli Hartman found the back of the net followed by  a goal by Whitney Lambert. Lambert followed on a hard shot off the goal post from Megan Eckstein, according to Laker.

The Lady Bulldogs were solid defensively the entire game and allowed only five shots. Rebecca Roell recorded the shut-out in goal.

The team is back in action on Saturday at Franklin County.
