-- — The Batesville High School golf team captured their third Ripley County title in a row and sixth in the past seven years.
Originally scheduled to be played over two days with the final nine holes at Cricket Ridge Golf Course, the poor weather conditions shortened the golf tournament to one day.
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to North Branch Golf Course and built a substantial lead lead, which proved to the be the margin of victory.
Batesville carded a team score of 175 strokes. Milan was their closest competition with 235 followed by Jac-Cen-Del (245) and South Ripley.
Sophomore Madison McCreary led the Lady Bulldogs with a medalist score of 36. Mary Fegley was second on the team with a 45 followed by Alex Heidlage (46) and Lauren Duncan (48). Staci Records was fifth on the team with a 58.
Lady Bulldogs fall to Greensburg
The Lady Bulldogs and Greensburg Lady Pirates are the two favorites to challenge for the conference and sectional titles this week.
In a preview of what is to come, the Lady Bulldogs were defeated by Greensburg 191-201 last Friday at Greensburg Country Club.
McCreary led the Lady Bulldogs with a nine hole score of 44.
BHS second at Charger Invite
The Lady Bulldogs finished second to Connersville on Saturday in the Charger Invitational at North Branch.
Batesville compiled a team score of 364, which was 15 behind the Lady Spartans.
McCreary led the Lady Bulldogs with an 18-hole score of 85, including a 42 on the Meadow nine and a 43 on the Bridge.
Duncan was second with a 90 followed by Fegley (92), Heidlage (97) and Records (110).
