BATESVILLE — Dear editor,
Batesville hosted the first state tournaments at the new Plex ball fields.
Two different age groups of softball players, 8-year-olds and 14-year-olds competed in the District 2 state tournament.
It brought in nine teams from around southern Indiana and was a tremendous success.
A huge thanks to all the volunteers who worked the tournament in a variety of jobs. Tournament director Terry Phillips organized all facets and made sure everything flowed smoothly. Rosemary Moton did a fantastic job in the concession stand. Bill Weatherston, Brandon Kessens and Ted Nobbe coached, did field maintenance, trash pickup and filled in where anything was necessary. And of course, Bill Hisrich and Chris Laugle, as always, contributed to the announcing and scorekeeping.
Great job to all. I look forward to Batesville hosting more softball tournaments in the future.
