Dear Editor, Last week I attended Cub Scout Day Camp at the Ripley County Fairgrounds. I loved day camp! My favorite part was archery. I also thought kickball was great, too. I liked the activities we did. They involved making first aid kits, folding flags, slingshots, going down a waterslide, making dream catchers and even more! At the beginning we did a flag ceremony where the Boy Scouts carried the flag to the pole and raised the flag onto the pole. We were given Cub Scout T-shirts, too. We got water bottles to keep. We did so many things I can’t even tell them all! I thought the people that worked there did a great job. Gus Kellerman, 9, Batesville Cub Scout Pack 636 Webelos I

Reducing the deficit will require skill
The failure of the congressional supercommittee to reach an agreement on reducing the deficit was not just bad fiscal news. It was a significant failure of political leadership.
