BATESVILLE — Dear Editor, We want to personally thank all the dedicated and passionate volunteers who made the first Batesville Earth Day April 17 a reality. When Mayor Rick Fledderman kicked off the Batesville Green Committee for the Environment about a year ago, we did not envision accomplishing this sort of undertaking in our first year. In addition to committee members and participating exhibitors and musicians, we are grateful to eight speakers who educated attendees on a variety of green topics. The committee also appreciates the Batesville Rotary Club for serving its unique lunch items. We also were impressed by generous donations from the city of Batesville, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Vallonia State Nursery, Duke Energy, 5 Oaks Lawn and Garden, WRBI, Batesville Farmers’ Market, Food and Growers Association of Laughery Valley and Environs, Leising Excavating and Mulch and Sister Claire Whalen. We hope citizens continue to learn and practice how best to care for our environment. Co-chairs Mike Cambron and Debbie Blank
