Terry “Doc” Vonderheide, 56

— Terry “Doc” Vonderheide, 56, Gallatin, Tenn., passed away March 6, 2013.

Mr. Vonderheide was born in 1956 in Batesville.

He was a driven, intelligent, giving, passionate and inspiring man who loved to motivate people.

He was exceptionally musically talented and had an amazing sense of humor. The ultimate “phone-a-friend” for trivia and all-time Wiffle ball pitcher was a teacher, professional musician and published songwriter, but, most importantly, a family man. He was an extraordinary husband, dad, papa, friend, coach, teacher and person who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The St. John Vianney Catholic Church member was an educator in Metro and Sumner County schools for many years.

Vonderheide was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. Vonderheide and Janet Lee McCool Vonderheide.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Margaret Louise Vonderheide; children Michelle (James) Ellis, Julie Robinson, Tom (Jennifer) Ratz, Janelle Ratz, Greta Hale, Megan (Aubrey) Hubbard, Heidi (Joshua) Willard and Hilary Vonderheide; grandchildren Adam Ellis, Brittany Ellis, Eric Ratz, Gavin Cain, Keile Hale, Cadan Cain, Charlie Hale, Maggie Hale, Cannon Hale, Olivia Willard, Bella Ratz, Nathan Willard and “Little Buddy”; great-grandchildren Carter Ellis, Makynze Ellis and Owen Patton; and siblings Vicki (Rick) Rahe, Scott (Dala) Vonderheide, Susie (Doug) Meyer, Judy (Alan) Raab and Robbie (Tammy) Vonderheide.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Gallatin. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Crestview Funeral Home, 1623 Highway 109 N., Gallatin.
