Ruth Emilia Siebert, 93

— Ruth Emilia Siebert, 93, Batesville, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at St. Andrews Health Campus.

Born Aug. 21, 1919, she was the daughter of George and Louisa (Bosse) Menchhofer. Ruth married Amos Siebert May 4, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2009.

The 1937 Batesville High School graduate, homemaker and farmer’s wife also worked and retired from Hillenbrand Industries.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and Hobby Nobby Homemakers Club. Ruth loved working in her garden, especially with roses. She enjoyed cooking and during the holidays would make lots of candy for Christmas gifts. Her family said their favorite dishes were her sauerkraut balls and pies. Ruth also liked to sew and quilt. Her children said she could be a strict, but fair mother who always made time for them.

Ruth is survived by two children: Janet Westerfeld and husband Dave and Larry Siebert and wife Ellen, Batesville; three grandchildren: Nan Franke, Clare Siebert and Darren Westerfeld; and two great-grandchildren: Austin and Cody Franke.

Ruth was the last of five children with her siblings Hilda Dallman, Dorothy Kestler, Esther Siebert and Walter Menchhofer preceding her in death.

Visitation is Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, with the Rev. Robin Owen officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or Alzheimer’s Association.
