Betty J. Spaeth, 78

— Betty J. Spaeth, 78, Rushville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Millers Merry Manor there.

The daughter of the late Michael and Regina (Weber) Ritzi was born July 16, 1934, in Brookville. She married Bernard J. Spaeth Aug. 28, 1954, and he survives.

The Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception graduate was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her entire family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rushville, and its Sodality. She also served on the Parish Council, where she was past president, and as the church’s Activities Committee chairman.

Her loving family includes her husband of 58 years; daughters Patty (Richard) Schultz and Ann (Joe) Robben, West Harrison, Eileen (Gary) Clemons, North Las Vegas, Nev., and Connie (Jeff) Amos, Jeannie (Brian) Sutter and Jennifer (Darren) Hoeing, Rushville; sons David (Debbie) Spaeth, Richard (Regina) Spaeth, Mike (Karen) Spaeth, Bill (Julie) Spaeth, Jim (Darlene) Spaeth, Chuck (Debbie) Spaeth and Bengie (Lisa) Spaeth, Rushville; 44 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and two sisters.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 2-8 p.m. at Todd Funeral Centre and Crematory, Rushville, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, Dec. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeremy Gries officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery there.
