-- — Dennis L. Meister, 61, Batesville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at The Waters of Batesville.
The son of Ada (Wirth) and John Meister was an industrial arts teacher at East Central High School for 37 years before retiring in 2010.
His family spoke of Dennis’ love of his job and his passion for teaching. His other passion was steam engines. He enjoyed collecting them in addition to attending steam engine and power of the past shows. Others interests Dennis had included farming and watching the History Channel. His family said he found homemade cinnamon rolls irresistible.
Dennis is survived by his mother, Batesville; sisters and brother-in-law Joyce and Jim Westerman, Sunman, and Susan Meister, Batesville; brothers and sister-in-laws John Meister and Daniel and Debbie Meister, Batesville, and Tony and Penny Meister, Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he also was preceded in death by his brother, Donald “Pete” Meister.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 18, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Morris, with the Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Pioneer Engineers Club of Indiana.
