Elizabeth “Betty” Jonas, 85

— Elizabeth “Betty” Jonas, 85, Cedar Grove, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash.

Born April 12, 1927, in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Mary Louise (Lang) Rolfes. On Feb. 19, 1949, in Harrison, Ohio, she became the wife of Charles Jonas, and he preceded her in death April 22, 1994.

Betty was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Cedar Grove; Red Hatters Society; and St. Leon American Legion Post 464 Ladies Auxiliary; and was a past member of the Franklin County EMS. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to play cards, collect cookbooks and knit.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Becky (Bart) Bartling, Batesville, Paula (Ed) Meyer, Harrison, and Melissa (Kelly) Leffingwell, Brookville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tom (Diane) Jonas, Murray, Ky., and Gerry (Tammy) Jonas, Harrison; daughter-in-law Mary Lou Jonas, St. Leon; 15 grandchildren: Shanna, Stacy, Jamie, Emily, Abby, Drew, Blake, Brooke, Jeremy, Jonathan, Susannah, Hayley, Seth, Evan and Logan; five great-grandchildren: Zoe, Riley, Maddox, Jonas and Isaiah; one sister: Rita (Bill) Viel, Harrison; one brother: Tom (Dorothy) Rolfes, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons: John Phillip Jonas and Michael Jonas; six sisters: Cecelia Tumlin, Estella Jaisle, Margaret Culman, Alma Rolfes, Charlotte Wiwi and Anna Mae Lang; six brothers: Leo, Eugene, Paul, Alfred, Richard and Harry Rolfes.

Family and friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville. The Rev. Sean Danda will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
