Ruth Sager, 86

— Ruth Sager, 86, Batesville, and formerly of Portland and Greensburg, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. Andrews Health Campus.   

The daughter of Jesse and Dorothy (Hines) Hammers was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Portland. She married Elvin Sager April 18, 1948, and he passed away May 31, 2007.

The Jefferson Township High School, Deerfield, graduate  worked for First National Bank, Portland, from 1948-88, when she retired as assistant vice president. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Portland; Greensburg United Methodist Church; and the Portland Evening Optimist Club.   

Survivors include one son: Steve D. Sager (wife Su), Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters: Debra L. Flaspohler (husband Donald), Batesville, and Cathy J. Sager (companion Joseph Calderazzo), Washington; one sister:  Ruby Overholser (husband Lemoine), Portland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter,  Diana Vance.  

Visitation is Tuesday, March 5, from 4-7 p.m., and the funeral service is Wednesday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, Portland. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Pennville.
