-- — Bertha P. Patterson, 78, Hamburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
Born April 28, 1934, in Hamburg, she was the daughter of Alice (Peters) and Harry Dwenger. She married Robert Patterson Sept. 24, 1955, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Hamburg, where she was a lifelong member. She spent 24 years with Batesville Casket Co. as the executive secretary before retiring in 1997.
Bert’s faith was very important to her and she donated countless hours of her time and talent to the church. She became director of religious education and a CCD teacher in 1981 and continued with those duties until 1999.
In 1985 she added the roles of church secretary and bookkeeper until just recently, when she passed those responsibilities on. Bert liked to read and was a fan of “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune,” but preferred to spend most of her free time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter Cindy (Dennis) Lamping, Hamburg; sons Dan, Mike and Bill (Shelly) Patterson, Hamburg; sister Rosina Lodge, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Theresa Esslinger, Irene Tepe and Mary Flick; brothers Albert and Irvin Dwenger; and grandson Rob Vance.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 31, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with the Rev. George Nangachiveettil officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family requests memorials to St. Anne’s Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
