Charles Ketchum
Charles Harmon Ketchum, 80
Charles Harmon Ketchum, 80, Greensburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Kindred Hospital, Greenwood.
Born Dec. 2, 1928, in Westport, he was the son of the late Frank and Eliza (Reed) Ketchum. He married Donna (McDermott) Ketchum Aug. 31, 1956, and she survives.
The U.S. Army Korean War veteran served in the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions from 1951-53. The Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Decatur County, member owned Ketchum Shell, Greensburg, and worked there for 53 years.
Survivors also include two daughters: Lorie Young and Kathryn Phillips, Greensburg; three sons: Charles D., John and Maurice Ketchum, Greensburg; a sister: Pauline Witkemper, Greensburg; eight grandchildren: Mary and Morgan Young, Deanna Richardson, Alexis Robertson, Felicia Templeton, Wesley Quinton and Johnathon and Jared Ketchum; three great-grandchildren: Owain and Guin Robertson and Karson Templeton; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by four sisters: Jemima Moss, Ruby Carr, Ruth York and Helen Hobbs; a brother: Frank Ketchum; and a granddaughter: Kayla Young.
Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 15, from 3-7 p.m. after a 2:30 p.m. rosary service at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg. The funeral officiated by the Rev. Keith Dover is there Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. Burial is at Rossburg Cemetery, New Point. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Mount Moriah Baptist Church, American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.gilliland-howe.com.
