William B. Disney, 85

-- — William B. Disney, 85, Sunman, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at his home.  

He was born Oct. 15, 1926, in Anco, Ky., to Robert and Minta (Dobson) Disney. On April 18, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, he married Mary Jo Wells, who survives.  

William enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1944 in Knott County, Ky.  After serving for 10 years in World War II, Korea, and the Philippines, he was employed at Fernald, Ross, Ohio, for 14 years and later as a Hill-Rom machinist for 20 years. The Kenneth Diver American Legion Post 337, Sunman, lifelong member was an avid gunman and belonged to NMLRA and NRA.  He was also a founding member of the Old Guy’s Golf Club. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop at home and could often be found cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.

Also surviving are daughters Jennie Maune, St. Leon, Joan Butler, Cincinnati, Rhonda Hoskins, Farmer’s Retreat, Marcia Eckstein, Sunman, Denise Disney, Robin Braunagel and Dawn Disney, Milan; brother Paul Disney, Sunman; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.   

William was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Deborah Wilhelm and Jackie Disney, son John Disney and brothers Don and Damon Disney.  

Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Home Cemetery, Milan, with military rites performed by the American Legion post.  

Memorials may be directed to the Sunman Life Squad or Kenneth Diver American Legion Post 337.
