Joseph A. Ellis, 92, Sunman, died at The Waters of Batesville Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008.
He was born to Joseph and Mildred (Broner) Ellis Jan. 15, 1916, in Kearny, N.J. On May 1, 1937, he married Olga (Kolody) Ellis, who died May 11, 2005.
Ellis and his wife served as missionaries in Africa for over 24 years and came to Sunman in 1980 to assist with the ministry of Sunman Bible Church. He was a member of the church, Evangelical Church Alliance and United World Missions.
Surviving are a son: Joseph A. Ellis Jr., Hamilton, N.J.; a granddaughter: Deanna Bookholdt, Hamilton, N.J.; two great-grandchildren: Justin and Elisa Bookholdt; and special friends: Jerry and Paula Reed, Sunman.
Visitation is Monday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral officiated by the Rev. Dr. Sterling Cauble at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman.
Burial is at St. Paul Cemetery there. Memorials may be made to America’s Keswick, Whiting, N.J.
