Milton J. Kessens, 97

— Milton J. Kessens, 97, Batesville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Margaret Mary Community Hospital.

Born Jan. 27, 1915, in Batesville, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Westerfeld) Kessens. The U.S. Army World War II 149th Infantry veteran was a Batesville Casket Co. welder, retiring at age 62. He was also a lifelong farmer. Mr. Kessens married Marian Kramer-Williamson Jan. 25, 1964, in Batesville. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, and Batesville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1130.  

Kessens is survived by his wife; and children Linda (Conley) Beard, Oldenburg, and Dale (Debby) Williamson and Donna (the late David) Miller, Batesville. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Jeff and Greg Williamson, Kelley Ferrantelli, Kristina Hartman and Nick Miller Sr.; great-grandchildren Christina McVay, Danielle Williamson, Kaylee Williamson, Kyle Williamson, Nicholas Miller Jr., Makiha Miller, Zackery Hartman and Makenna Hartman; his brother, Alvin Kessens, Batesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Harvey Kessens.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 4-7 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads, with Pastor Robin Owen officiating. Burial with military services is in the church cemetery.
