Gloria Ann Becker, 79

-- — Gloria Ann Becker passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, 2012, at her home in Batesville at the age of 79.

The daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Sullender) Skidmore was born Jan. 20, 1933, near Aurora. The Aurora High School graduate married Donald Becker Sept. 20, 1952, in Aurora. He preceded her in death May 28, 2007.

Gloria was a licensed practical nurse, graduating from the Good Samaritan Hospital program. For several years, she worked in the Batesville High School office, but her true profession was working as a nurse for Margaret Mary Community Hospital, where she eventually retired from. She was very dedicated to her job and to her many patients she cared for over the years. Gloria truly enjoyed helping those in need. She was also a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Huntersville. She was a good and loving mother, who will be greatly missed by her five children.

Gloria is survived by her two sons: Jay (Shirley) Becker, Batesville, and Dan (Angie) Becker, Westfield; three daughters: Cindy (Richard) Feller, Batesville, Diana Holderman, Dayton, Ohio, and Virginia Becker, Batesville; two sisters: Faye Ross and Charlotte Horn, Lawrenceburg; one brother: Bernard Skidmore, Lawrenceburg; along with 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her infant brother David; and her young sister Virginia.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 3, from 4-7 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at St. John’s United Church of Christ with the Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial  follows at the church cemetery.
