Paul John Richards, 85

— Paul John Richards, 85, Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Heritage House of Greensburg.

Born May 4, 1927, in Batesville, he was the son of Lorry and Loretta (Bosse) Richards.

After high school, Paul joined the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. On Feb. 4, 1950, he married Evelyn Narwold at St. John’s Huntersville Church, Batesville, where he had been a dedicated member all of his life, giving a lot of time along with many gifts to the church, like all the Bibles in the pews along with office furniture.

Paul retired from Cummins Engine, Columbus, as an industrial engineer. He was a member of Batesville Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 668, Tree City Squares and Brunch Bunch in Indianapolis. Paul and his wife loved to travel, dance and camp.

Paul is survived by his wife; two sons: Jerel “J.R.” (wife Denise) Richards, Greensburg, and Troy Richards, Columbus; six grandchildren: Tonia Richards, Tawana Brewer, Scott Richards, Jerel Richards Jr., Preston and Tiffany Richards; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Margaret Riggs, Wesley Chapel, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Richards.

Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home with Masonic services at 8 p.m. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Huntersville, where memorials may be given.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts.
