Robert L. Dietz, 69

— Robert L. Dietz, 69, San Diego, and formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the University of California San Diego Medical Center.

Born May 19, 1943, in Batesville, he was the son of Helen (Doll) and Louis Dietz. Bob served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and for the last 28 years was owner of Adventure Imaging, a photo evidence service that produces exhibits for trials. He was a member of the San Diego Trial Lawyers Association.

He was a graduate of Batesville High School and Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Bob’s hobby was his work. Before starting Adventure Imaging, he worked in the hotel industry for many years in a capacity that had the built-in perk of traveling the world and getting to visit places many of us only dream about. After leaving the hotel and entertainment industry, in 1985 he opened up his photo evidence company, which he owned until his death.

Because he liked to relax at the end of the day, he took great pride in furnishing his home inside and out to be inviting and comfortable. It was not a house, but truly a home. While he might fiddle a little with some gardening, an enjoyable evening was a good book and a scotch and water on the patio.

Bob is survived by his sister, Jane Fullenkamp, Oldenburg; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9–11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, and a memorial service officiated by the Rev. David Kobak, OFM, follows at Weigel Funeral Home. His ashes will be interred in St. Louis Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271.

The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research Fund.
