Public invited to chamber of commerce dinner

BATESVILLE — The red carpet will be rolled out in Batesville Thursday, Jan. 31, when the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce holds its annual dinner, and community members are invited to join in the festivities.

For the past few years, the event’s theme has centered around “Oscar Night” and the chamber’s version of the Academy Awards. “We are building on it every year. Come and enjoy the glitz and glamour and celebrate all our great award winners,” reports executive director Melissa Tucker.

Throughout the evening, guests will be treated to the sounds of the Eureka Band.

The dinner menu includes crusted chicken breast, roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable medley, green beans, salad, roll and desserts.

Following the meal, the awards ceremony will take place. A committee chose the winners among the nominations received.

Honorees are Doug Bessler, Distinguished Service Award; Anne Amrhein, Distinguished Educator; Rural Alliance for the Arts, Distinguished Organization; and Eureka Band, Distinguished Volunteer Group.

Maverick Challenge participants from Oldenburg Academy will also be recognized.

Outgoing (Kevin Buchler, Tammy Kocher, Rachael Werner and Tom Jeffers) and incoming (Shawwn Storms, Mary Ellen Rippe, Jim Helms and John Dickey) chamber board members will be introduced, including new president Marilyn Schnur.

Tucker says, “The public is invited to attend .... (the evening) is a great opportunity for the business community and the public to come together and support each other, the award winners and the chamber.”
