First blast of winter hits the area

— It was going to happen sooner or later.

As folks woke up this morning in southeastern Indiana they  were greeted by a growing blanket of snow. The white stuff kept coming most of the day with only a few breaks  - just as forecasted. The gusty winds did not help the conditions as travel was limited in the area.

As afternoon came, more and more people made their way out and about. Roads became a little busier and the traditional sledding hills at Hilcrest Golf and Country Club gradually began to draw visitors.

More information regarding the accumulation totals and removal efforts will follow as they become available.

If you do not have to travel this evening, please stay off the roads. It will allow the road crews more time and space to do their jobs.
