A 911 call at about 12:04 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, alerted the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office to a single-vehicle accident near Delaware.
“Evidence at the scene determined that 19-year-old Dylan Eadens, Milan, had been traveling northbound on County Road 225 East when the vehicle he was operating, a green 1995 Dodge Ram pickup, left the roadway on the right side, colliding with a utility pole and several trees,” reported Lt. Randy Holt. With Eadens trapped inside, the truck ignited into flames.
Due to the rapid response of Delaware firefighters and Osgood Fire Extrication, the fire was extinguished and the driver was successfully extricated.
Eadens was transported by Milan Rescue 30 to Margaret Mary Community Hospital for treatment of burns and injuries. Eadens, later transferred to University Hospital, Cincinnati, was in critical condition, Holt said.
Also assisting at the scene were Ripley County Medic and the Versailles Police Department. The accident is still under investigation.
