H1N1 Flu

Vaccine Clinics

The Ripley County Health Department is conducting three H1N1 flu vaccine clinics for the public instead of just priority groups Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Sunman American Legion Hall; Milan Middle School; and the department itself in the county annex, 102 W. First North St., Versailles.

CPR Class

Margaret Mary Community Hospital holds a basic CPR class Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the administrative conference room. Cost: $15. Registration required: 933-5115.

OFC Program

Christmas for

the Birds

Christmas for the Birds is Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Lake Santee Community Room. Kids accompanied by adults may make winter feeding treats for birds. Materials and refreshments are provided by Friends of Wildlife at Lake Santee. Info: Charm Seright, 812-663-5465.

Sale at Library

Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library will sell Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and holiday-oriented books, magazines and movies in the library lobby Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the library.

Visits With Santa

Children may visit Santa in his downtown village square workshop on two Saturdays: Dec. 12 from noon-2 p.m. and Dec. 19 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Live Nativity

The St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Morris, Live Nativity is Saturday, Dec. 12, from 4-9 p.m. on the grounds and inside the parish hall, with live music at both places. Free refreshments.

Eagles Dance

Batesville Eagles Aerie 1130 will host a dance with music by Southbound Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Model Train Display

Doug Evans will have his model trains on display at Batesville Memorial Public Library Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 13, from 1-5 p.m.

Holiday Tour

A decorated church, store and four homes are on a holiday tour sponsored by the Brookville/Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Sunday, Dec. 13, from 1-4 p.m. $5 tickets are available that day at The Gallery, 700 Main St.

OFC Programs

St. Louis School students in grades K-8 who play band and string instruments or participate in the choir will present a Christmas concert Monday, Dec. 14, at 2:15 p.m. in the activity center. At 7 p.m, grades K-2 will hold their choral concert.

Theater Workshop

Rural Alliance for the Arts will present a free “Character Building and Improvisation Theater Workshop” with the Nebraska Caravan Actors Monday, Dec. 14, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Batesville High School auditorium choral room.

“A Christmas Carol”

Rural Alliance for the Arts presents the Nebraska Theatre Caravan production of the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” Monday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Batesville High School auditorium. SES Concert

Sunman Elementary School third- and fourth-graders will present a musical revue, “Snow Biz,” Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at East Central High School Performing Arts Center.

A Christmas cantata, “The Name Jesus,” will be presented by Dearborn Hills United Methodist Choir at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Brookville, Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Mission Card Party

There will be a Mission Card Party (playing 500) Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. in the Father Rudolph Room at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg.



Thursday, Dec. 17

Emerald Ash Borer Meetings

Two informational meetings on the emerald ash borer, an exotic species of beetle that destroys ash trees, will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, at 3 and 6 p.m. at Batesville Memorial Public Library. The insect was recently found in Adams Township in Ripley County and a quarantine on regulated ash items and hardwood firewood has been implemented. Phi Beta Psi

Sorority Sale

Phi Beta Psi Sorority will sell cheeseballs, Rada knives and Schemer Pecans at Kroger Thursday, Dec. 17, from 3-7 p.m. Cheeseballs are also available at Schmidt’s Bakery and The Finishing Touch. Proceeds go toward cancer research and local charities.

St. Paul School Concert

St. Paul School students will present a program based on the Nativity story Thursday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. in the church.

The 42nd free New Point Christian Church Live Nativity is Dec. 22-24 from 7-9 p.m. on State Road 46. Treats and small children’s gifts are distributed to spectators on foot or in vehicles that pass by.

Batesville Vineyard Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service Thursday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

The town of Oldenburg is sponsoring a stillboard and trap shoot Sunday, Dec. 27, starting at 11 a.m. at the Tri-County Conservation Club, Oldenburg. Prizes are meat and money. Proceeds will help purchase new town Christmas decorations. Info: Greg Struewing, 934-6592.

Christmas Tours

The Sisters of St. Francis offer free Christmas Tours at their Oldenburg convent Sunday, Dec. 27, from 6-8 p.m. On display will be a tree with nature ornaments and themed decorations. Performances by two chime choirs and refreshments.

“Remembering Those Who Served” Submission Deadline

The Franklin County Public Library District is compiling a tribute book, “Remembering Those Who Served: The Veterans and Servicemen of Franklin County, Indiana,” to honor those who served this country in times of war and peace. Persons can submit information about servicemen and women associated with Franklin County to be included in the book. Forms are available at The Herald-Tribune. Submissions are due by Thursday, Dec. 31, and can be mailed to the Brookville Library, 919 Main St., Brookville, IN 47012.
