RCCF grants awarded


Ripley County Community Foundation officials have released the names of the 2009 grant recipients. For the fall cycle, $25,906 was awarded, with priority given to grants that would relieve human suffering, according to program officer Jane Deiwert:

• Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department, EMS storage boxes and equipment, $2,500;

• Rural Alliance for the Arts, tickets for unemployed families to attend “A Christmas Carol” performance, $2,500;

• Ripley County Angels of Giving, support for the needy at Christmas, $2,500;

• Ripley County Red Cross, aid for Ripley County disaster victims, $2,500;

• Sunman Food Pantry, food for the needy, $2,500 in Kroger gift cards;

• Southeastern Indiana YMCA Learning Center, shade for toddlers’ playground, $2,500;

• Morris Firemen’s Association, fire hose, $2,496;

• Napoleon Volunteer Fire Co., radios, pagers and chargers, $2,350;

• Safe Passage, operating support, $1,060;

• Batesville Area Ministerial Food Pantry, Ripley County Food Pantry, Milan Community Relief and Fishes and Loaves (Osgood Food Pantry), each received $1,000 in Kroger gift cards;

• Oldenburg Academy, student-prepared Easter and Thanksgiving dinners for Safe Passage residents, $600 in Kroger gift cards; and

• South Ripley Junior/Senior High School, progress monitoring program, $400.
