Pedestrian killed by car on S.R. 129

-- — Ripley County Communications received a report of a pedestrian struck in the road on State Road 129 just south of State Road 48 at about 4:31 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, said Sheriff Tom Grills.

“Information from the investigation so far has revealed Christina Foster, 38, Sunman, was in the roadway when Scottie Taulbee, 54, Dillsboro, was northbound, driving a 1993 Toyota passenger car when he struck her.”

The county coroner pronounced Foster dead at the scene.

S.R. 129 between state roads 350 and 48 was closed for about three hours while investigators worked at the scene.

According to Grills, “It is unknown at this time why Foster was near the middle of a heavily traveled highway at that time in the morning.”

So far the driver has not been cited in the crash.

Deputy Kendall Hankins, the investigating officer, is being assisted by the sheriff. They also were assisted at the scene by Delaware firefighters, Ripley County Medics, Batesville EMS 10, Batesville police and Indiana State Police.

The crash is still under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office. Persons with any information regarding this investigation are urged to call 812-689-5558.
