--- — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a burglary at Oldenburg Academy Sunday, Aug. 22, at 9:32 a.m., said Sgt. Jason Lovins, the investigating officer. Cash, candy and bottled soda pop were taken during the break-in, which occurred between 4-6 a.m. that day. Indiana State Police crime scene technician Steve Weigel processed the scene. Later that afternoon, Lovins and Batesville Patrolman Ryan Metcalf located a juvenile suspected of being involved. They then found two more juveniles who may have been involved. All were questioned and released to parents, Lovins said. The suspect vehicle was located and towed to the Batesville Police Department, where a search warrant was obtained through Franklin Circuit Court. It was served on Aug. 23 by Lovins and Weigel. “Items suspected of being taken during the burglary were recovered, as well as other evidence,” the sergeant reported. Later Aug. 23 a fourth juvenile was questioned and released to parental custody. Batesville Cpl. Dave Abel also assisted with the investigation, according to the news release. “Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be referred to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if the juveniles will be adjudicated in juvenile court or if a waiver to adult court will be sought,” Lovins said.
