Teen accused of stabbing relative

Batesville police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Sunday night, March 14, said Chief Stan Holt.

The dispatch center received a report from the Margaret Mary Community Hospital emergency room at around 8 p.m. that a 20-year-old male came in with a stab wound. Sgt. Doug Wolfer and Patrolman Jamie Straber responded and met with the victim, identified as Shey Gorsuch.

“The officers observed that Gorsuch had a severe stab wound to his abdomen,” Holt said.

Gorsuch reported he was at his residence on Herman Street when he got into an altercation with a 17-year-old male family member. Gorsuch told the officers he was stabbed and that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

“Additional Batesville officers were called out to assist with the investigation and to search for the suspect,” according to the chief.

At about 9:22 p.m. the suspect was observed in a vehicle traveling southbound on Huntersville Road at the intersection of Columbus Avenue. Several officers conducted a traffic stop and took the teen into custody without incident.

He is being detained in the Dearborn County Juvenile Detention Center, Lawrenceburg, on preliminary charges of aggravated battery.

The officers worked until around 2 a.m. processing the crime scene, interviewing witnesses and following up on the investigation, Holt reported.
