United Way fundraising race has $500 grand prize

-- — This year the United Way of Franklin County’s A-Main-Zing Race is open to individuals 16 and older.

The contest will get underway rain or shine  Friday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. on the Franklin County Courthouse steps during Main Street  Brookville,  reports UWFC director Yvonne Brandes.

Each team will consist of two members. A parental permission form must be signed if  a participant is under 18. Teams will race from location to location throughout Brookville.  Each team will be timed and the team with the best time based on completion time and donations will win the race. The deadline for entering is Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The entry fee per team is $50.

Each team should raise money for United Way to be presented at the finish line with each $10 donation  taking one minute off the team’s final finish time.

According to Brandes, “The purpose of the race is to act as a fundraiser for United Way. You do not have to be fast to win the race. The more donations collected earns your team a faster finish time!”

The race’s grand prize is $500, with other prizes for second and third runnersup and last place.

Entry forms and rules are available  on the Web site www. uwfranklinco-in.org or at the United Way of Franklin County office, 527 Main St., Brookville which is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The director can answer questions at 765-647-2789.
