The last day to register to vote or transfer a registration is Tuesday, Oct. 9, by 4 p.m. in the Franklin County Clerk’s Office or by noon in the Ripley County Clerk’s Office. Both offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 8, due to Columbus Day.
Persons may also register to vote online at www.indianavoters.in.gov and can also check polling locations and where they are registered to vote.
Oct. 9 is also the first day a voter may vote an absentee general election ballot before the absentee voter board in the Franklin County Courthouse, 459 Main St., Brookville. Those hours are weekdays through Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. The office also will be open two Saturdays, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 5, at noon is the deadline to cast an absentee ballot before the absentee board.
Voters with questions or who wish to vote by mail or have the traveling board come to their houses to vote may contact the Franklin County Clerk’s Office, 765-647-5111, Ext. 3, for an absentee ballot application. Ripley County Clerk Mary Ann McCoy reminds voters who have moved to update their voter registrations to their current addresses by noon Oct. 9 in order to vote in the general election Nov. 6.
Ripley County voters may cast absentee ballots in the clerk’s election room in the Versailles courthouse weekdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. A voter must have an Indiana state-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, or federal-issued photo ID, such as a passport. A photo ID for voting purposes is available at BMV offices.
