Ivy Tech extends free training

-- — Ivy Tech Community College is extending the free Green/ Sustainability Manufacturing training provided by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development until Aug. 31.

The training prepares Hoosiers for 21st century jobs by teaching workers sustainable manufacturing practices for industries with an emphasis on energy-reduction and environmental improvement. Training will be provided at no cost to qualified unemployed, underemployed and dislocated workers through a U.S. Department of Labor State Energy Sector Partnership grant.

Training sessions are scheduled for Ivy Tech Community College in these regions: Northwest, North Central, Northeast, Central Indiana, East Central and Kokomo.  Hoosiers may contact any participating regional Ivy Tech office or by calling the Ivy Tech Corporate College at 888-999-3639.

Green manufacturing practices are an emerging skill set not readily available, making workers with this knowledge and these abilities extremely valuable to employers. Employers have a strong interest in workers who can identify conservation methods and implement cost effective solutions.

Participants will learn the essential green skills in 21st century manufacturing for front-line production workers, with successful completers earning the MSSC Green Production worker nationally portable workforce certification.
