A garage sale sponsored by the Grateful Families Fund, a group of families whose children have benefitted from the Lilly Scholarships through the Ripley County Community Foundation, will be held Friday, July 3, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 4, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6387 E. State Road 46, Morris. All proceeds will be placed in a fund to continue to allocate scholarships.

On Saturday, July 4, Batesville Christian Church members will host 4 on the 4th, a four-mile road race to raise money for the Batesville Area Ministerial Association Food Pantry. The 8:30 a.m. event begins and ends at the church at 1294 Columbus Ave. The entry fee is $15. Registrations forms are available at www.batesvillechristianchurch.org or persons can register that day between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m.
Fireworks 5K Run/Walk
The Fireworks 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 4, at Glen Miller Park, Richmond. Registration is at 8 a.m. Race begins at 9 a.m. Cost: $17 in advance; $22 day of race. Parade and
Legion Day
A noon Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271 Independence Day parade precedes the traditional July 4 Legion Day at Liberty Park. The Batesville route: east on West Pearl Street, south on Main Street, east on Catherine Street and south on Park Avenue to the park pavilion. Adult games include a raffle and pull tabs. On the menu are brats and metts, pulled pork sandwich plates from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., then chicken and roast beef dinners.
Metamora Celebration

Fireworks Night
The Ripley County Chamber Fireworks Night is Friday, July 3, at Ripley County Fairgrounds Park, Osgood. Opening at noon are booths containing antiques, crafts, food and flea market items. Several jumping inflatables, live bands and fireworks at dark are offered. Nonwinged sprint, midget and mini-sprint cars begin racing at 7:30 p.m. at the grandstands.
