The Batesville Memorial Pool will tentatively open Monday, May 29, at 1 p.m., weather permitting, according to manager Melvin Siefert.
“The swimming pool and slide/dive pool will be open and operational. However, the baby pool will not be open. The (new) splash pad ‘kiddy area’ will not be open due to setbacks with weather and technical problems. We hope to have it operational as soon as possible,” he explained.
The 2006 schedule for open swimming: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
The pool will close at 4 p.m. June 15, June 22 and June 29 due to home swim meets.
Daily admission per session is $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children 17 and younger. Senior citizens are admitted free of charge.
Season passes also are available: $75, family; $65, parent and two children; $55, parent and one child; $45, adult; $40, child 17 and younger.
Beginning swimming lessons for children ages 5 and up will take place each Thursday from June 8 through July 13 (no lessons July 6). These lessons are free and open to the public to teach the basics of the swimming stroke and the importance of water safety.
There are three sessions: 10 to 10:30 a.m., Session I; 10:35 to 11:05 a.m., Session II; and 11:10 to 11:40 a.m., Session III.
Children and teens can sign up for the lessons at the pool’s front desk during regular hours, Siefert said.
