House sales increase in the area

— Residential real estate sales within the Batesville Community School Corp. district in September were $1.28 million compared to September 2011 sales of $1.34 million, according to data from the Southeast Indiana Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service analyzed by Jim Dreyer, Countryside Realty broker.

Year-to-date sales are $14.86 million, 18.6 percent ahead of $12.53 million in sales during the same period last year. That equates to 84 homes sold so far this year compared to 68 in 2011.

There were nine homes sold in September, the same as September 2011.

The number of homes listed for sale increased to 87, compared to 83 at the end of August. Last year there were 90 homes listed for sale.

Dreyer reports, “In the past 12 months, there have been 98 homes sold in the Batesville school district. With 87 currently on the market, that means we have 10.6 months on hand of active listings. Five to six months is considered normal, so we still have a buyer’s market.”
