Sherman House announces changes

-- — Doug Bessler, Sherman House owner and general manager, is pleased to announce new positions. Teresa Fitzpatrick has been promoted to manager, and Jeff Batta has been named catering coordinator.

Fitzpatrick, a Batesville native, joined the staff as banquet/ events coordinator and wait staff supervisor in June 2010. “With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, her experience is vast,” said Lydia Woodward, Marketing Solutions consultant.

Her responsibilities will include all scheduling and staffing for meetings, events and functions, in addition to scheduling and supervising all wait staff associates. Bessler noted, “Teresa has proven herself over and over with great ideas that require us to make changes and think outside the box. She is an incredible asset to the Sherman House.”

Batta has been in the hospitality business since 1989, first working as a line cook. Through the years, he has progressed up through the ranks. As catering coordinator, his responsibilities include  customizing menus for each event to create a special experience for everyone. Bessler commented, “Jeff’s eye for detail in every respect allows our cater clients to be a guest at their own event.”

The Sherman House Restaurant and Inn, located in downtown Batesville, started as a coaching tavern between Cincinnati and Indianapolis and has been a dining and lodging destination since 1852.
